Dear Microprose Trek Fans:
As I am sure many of you who own this game are aware of the lack of a save game feature in Star Trek Generations.
You know what I mean. The inability to save a mission during an away mission, only being able to save it at stellar cartography.
Many people on AOL are deeply upset with Microprose for this. If you have AOL, you can use the goto keyword microprose to access the Star Trek Generations message board.
The Microprose web site lacks the information to tell people that they have no save feature. MPS1 (The screen name for Microprose on AOL) replied to the complaints a copy of his letter follows.
Dear Customers,
Star Trek is about making difficult decisions and living with the consequences.
If we gave the user the ability to save their game anywhere then there would never be anything to lose.
There would be no reason to be careful or any need to think like a Starfleet officer if you were just able to restart where you left off after making a mistake.
I think the fact that you cannot save your position during a mission means that by the time you get near the end you may have a significant investment in time built up and that adds to a real feeling of tension.
Picard may be able to save his Holodeck program anywhere he likes but he knows that when he is facing a Romulan Warbird in "real life" he has no such option.
The decisions he makes in one instance have no lasting effects where as they most certainly do in the other case.
To get this feeling of realism we made a conscious decision to not allow saves and there is NOT going be a patch to change this."

It would probably be all right to have no save feature if these were ten-minute missions, but they are not. They are long and generally taking 1 hour and 30 min to 3 hours.
If you don't die a hundred times because of the lack of a save feature. A save feature should be standard on a game like this! It is sad they don't have one. :'(
If you could please help by sending Microprose a letter asking them to fix this serious problem. It would be greatly appreciated. This is a list of how to contact them:
